It is no secret where the island got its name from, the penguin infested volcanic island is found just a few miles south off the colossal ice sheets that cover King George Island. Take a hike up to Decon Peak, the crater that lies on top of the 170 meter volcano, to get a mind numbing view of the ice covered island.

Deception island is undoubtedly the pinnacle of any trip to Antarctica. Take a stroll alongside the cliffs of the volcano, before swimming in the thermally heated waters of Pendulum Cove. Dig your feet into the pitch black sand to feel the heat from the volcanic vents.

After a cruise along the islands, it is time to set foot on the continental mainland of Antarctica. Get some up-close action with the tumbling ice sheets from a tender or kayak, before letting the uncharted waters of Antarctica rock you to sleep one last time.

Wake up underway as you sail back towards civilization. Let the crystal blue waters of the 7th continent bid you farewell as you enjoy your morning cup of coffee. Board a convenient flight back to Punta Arenas, before onward travel.
